My rant about having multiple youtube channels
Hi, warning, i’m here to rant. In fact, I wanted to rant about this topic for a while now. This could be an OCD but I find youtubers having an extra channel for live stream excruciatingly annoying. Since it has been a while, my irritation has managed to cool down somehow.
As of recently, I’ve noticed some youtubers have been creating new channels for there live stream. I’d like to take this opportunity to justify why this is not a good idea.
Here are the reason for not having an extra live stream channel:
- It is a hassle for subscribers have to subscribe to an extra channel
- You have to build up new subscribers again which requires a lot of effort.
- The effort of building up new subscribers will be wasted if you end up quitting regular live streaming – which is common.
- It shows your lack of sincerity and commitment if you end up quitting or not be dedicated to upload regular content to that new channel – which is also common.
- You can use live stream to increase content and engagement in your ‘current’ channel to significantly improve the logarithm.
- You may annoy your subscribers if the content of your new live stream channel is pretty much the same as your main channel >:(
Don’t get me wrong, I do think there are exceptions for having a separate channel for live stream. For instance, it is fine to have a separate live stream channel for a dedicated specific niche topic such as live stream gaming channel. But it has to be regular and a long term project.
But for the most part, live stream should not be a reason to create a new channel as it simply can be used on the main channel.
Whilst i’m at it, I might as well rant about how annoying it is when youtubers create a new channel for topics they aren’t committed to. I’ve seen some youtubers who only uploaded a dozen of videos uploaded on a separate channel and gave up!..
If you want to make new topics or niche content, there’s is nothing wrong with incorporating it in your main channel. It nice to have things centralised with diverse content. There are ways to distinguish different types of content such as using unique thumbnail designs or using key words in the title. So before you go off to make a new channel, ask yourself if it is worth the time and energy, and if it is a long term project.
Anyways, now that it’s off my chest, I’ll get on with me day.
