How to get into the Christmas festive mood (things to do)

OK, it’s a few weeks away from Christmas and it has been a while since I’ve been in a Christmas festive mood. So this year I’ll attempt to be merry and jolly in the spirit Christmas. As it has been ages since I’ve celebrated the season, I thought I’d make a to do list from searching to net.
To do list:
1. Christmas decoration:
I guess the first thing to do is to get create a Christmas atmosphere with decoration. I didn’t know this but apparently you are meant to put the Christmas tree on the 4th sunday before Christmas. Here’s a check list:
- Put the Christmas tree
- LED lights up & tinsels
- Ornaments up (Christmas stocking, garland, figurine, mini village)
- Christmas scented candles
- Christmas theme bedding and cushions
- Oh yeah! Don’t forget those Christmas mugs!
2. Play & watch Christmasy things:
Another thing to do is to start watching and listening to Christmasy things to get into the mood.
- Create a Christmas playlist with different genres.
- Watch movies or vlogmas. A documentary about Gospel of Thomas tends to get me into the mood.
3. Have festive snacks and hot beverages:
Here are the list of goodies:
- Vegan cookies (especially sugar cookies)
- Hot beverage like vegan almond nog, vegan marshmellow hot chocolate or whatever Christmas theme drink.
3. Soak up the Christmas atmosphere outside:
Go for Christmas shopping, Christmas market or walk around the high street or neighbourhood to soak up the festive atmosphere.
4. Christmas gifts:
To give and receive gifts is a nice feelings. Donating toys to charity and help soap kitchens are great in the spirit of giving. Perhaps play secret Santa. Making a Christmas wish list might be fun for some too.
5. Sending Christmas Greetings:
As a kid, giving Christmas cards was more like a chore. As an adult, it’s heart felt to receive Christmas cards! I probably will just send Christmas message greetings this year though.
6. Christmas dinner and people:
Perhaps meet up with friends prior Christmas for a dinner to get into a merry mood. Spend time with family during the Christmas season and of course enjoying to vegan Christmas dinner.
7. Do a bit of clearing out:
I know this is not a Christmasy thing to do but if you have time, do a bit of task to keep busy. It’s a good time for digital cleaning or cleaning up the house in early preparation for the new years.
Other things I could do?
Here is a list of other things I can do. However I probably won’t be doing these but it’s good for reference:
- Dress up for christmas with Christmas jumper or PJs
- Set the phone wall paper christmas theme,
- Sing christmas carol or attend a church choir service
- Bakes dessert (vegan cookies, vegan mince pie)
- Make a vegan Christmas ginger biscuit house 😀
- Christmas advent calendar
My Plan:
Starting December:
Week 1:
- Start decorating: tree, lights, ornaments, beddings & cups
- Start festive snacks and hot drinks
- Start festive Christmas entertainment: create christmas playlist and watch vlogmas?
Week 2:
- Christmas shopping
- Soak up the Christmas atmosphere (high streets and decorated neighbourhood)
- Task (digital cleansing)
Week 3:
- Send Christmas greetings
- Light up scented Christmas candles
- Eat Christmas sugar cookies
Christmas Eve:
- Relax and just keep entertained (Christmas watch/music)
- Send Christmas greetings
Christmas Day:
- Relax and just keep entertained (Christmas movies/music)
- Christmas Dinner
