K-On! Review
I must say, K-On! It one of those all time classic masterpiece (especially Season 1). I find it difficult to find words to describe it, but it is perfection it i’s own class of genre and I don’t know where to begin the praise. I would compare it to be on a similar league as my other all time favorites which I regard masterpiece such as Hajime No Ippo (sport/boxing genre) and Whisper of the Heart.
This anime is about a group of girls who formed a band called After School Tea Time. More based on everyday life, rather than music, it certainly is a great blend. It is full of moe, cuteness, tea, laughs and music. I suppose if I were to describe it, it’d say it’ll leave you feeling “refreshed and happy” after watching it.
The main aspect that stood out were the characters. I really enjoy the character, where the character seems to be very genuine and consistent, from the voice, appearance and the dialogues. It all synchronized very well and feels like actual real character unlike other animes where it seems more superficial and unnatural. I give it to the manga artist and the anime director for pulling off an amazing craft.
The sense of humour is probably one of the best I’ve seen. Adorable, charming and light hearted. It is amazing how they don’t have to pull out a jokes nor try hard to be funny, but its just their characters and little silly cute things they do and their interactions never fails to to a smile on your face. I suppose it’s just the young carefree spirited nature that brings out a natural sense of joy.
The story line is rather simple, but it matches the slice of life and school life genre so it doesn’t need to have a satisfying story line. The art is reasonable. It wasn’t amazing, but it standard, which is fitting for the style of the anime, giving a sense of casualness.
I would have given it a 10/10 but I do feel that second season wasn’t as great as the first one, due to the lacking of events happening near the end of season 2. But over all, it’s an all time classic and a must watch.
