Appreciate today for you will one day long for today
Most of us go through life not recognising the blessing and beauty in front of us until it’s gone. Then in the future, we rant about how great we had it and how horrible life has turned out. This is the unhappy trap most of us encounter.
Look back when I was younger with full of hope and opportunity, I wish I had really lived by life to the fullest and not complain or worry about the so called trivial things despite the difficulties and uncertainty.
Likewise, in the future I will look back at today and wish I had really enjoyed and lived my life instead of complaining or worrying about the current prospect. Despite the gloom we face today, there are always beautiful moments and gems.
Sometimes I imagine what it’ll be like as an old man looking back at today in 2020. Perhaps I’d be sitting on a wheel chair, full of health problems, in pain, weak, and lonely with friends and family no longer alive. How I’d long to go back in time, to be healthy, to be able to walk, to feel alive and to have my friends and family still a live. I’d day ‘what I give to go back in time’.
The good thing is that you are here today with a lot of good things and blessing. Appreciate it, value it and cherish the amazing simple blessings you have in life today. Remind yourself once in a while how good you have it.
In the same way, we only realised how great we had it once we were in a lock down. Now we long to go on a holiday, walk through a lively streets, going to our favourite restaurant or cafe, meeting our friends & family, sense of knowing we can go anywhere we want and just having a sense of normal life.
The take home message is don’t take today for granted and cherish it. Despite hard times, don’t forget the count your blessing. Time is precious so use it wisely.
