How to build a site

To start creating a website, this is what you would need:

  1. Have a web host provider
  2. Buy a domain name
  3. Install web design software

At first it can be daunting, as we can be clueless with all of these things and new terminology and concepts. But don’t worry, I’ll step by step do through these points and it’ll be hopefully a piece of cupcake!

Step 1: Get a web host provider

Web host provider allows you to have access to online data space where you can create websites. To buy data plan from web host provider is rather cheap and affording. It is important to use one that has good customer service that provides technical support. I currently am using “tmdhosting” which I highly recommend.

Step 2: Buy a domain name

Once you are registered to a web hosting provider such as tmdhosting, you can buy domain from there. Domain is basically your website address, i.e. www.happy.com. Some web host provider may be cheaper than others. These domain has a yearly fee to renewal, otherwise it may be purchased by someone else when you contract it over, so I recommend automatic payment or set up to be notified via email.

NB: Domain name is independent component from the website or the web host purchased.

Step 3: Get the software installed

After purchasing a domain from you web host provider space, you can and this comes with the control panel called C Panel. With access to the CPanel you can install software which allows you to create websites. The common software is wordpress, which is easy to use and no or not much coding is required. It is adviserable to get the web host provider technical support team to install it, or just follow the tutorial from whatever web host provider to have. An alternative to C Panel you can have a normal site builder function which uses already made template where you just edit it. Having C Panel is recommended for those who wants to add extra features and functions to your website.

Step 4: Start designing your website!

This is the part where you put your creativity online! Please look at for my essential wordpress post in the future.
